Spearfish
If you wish to enjoy the outdoor attractions offered throughout the Black Hills, then you should definitely plan a stop in Spearfish. From campgrounds that feature real, live buffalo, to the opportunity to soar like an eagle, visiting Spearfish offers a wealth of outdoor hijinks!
Matthew's Opera House
One of Spearfish's most exciting indoor attractions, Matthew's Opera House has been putting out shows since 1906 and shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. The performances at Matthew's aren't restricted to operas, the theater is home to art shows, musicals, dramas, community events, and much more. The Gallery, which is on the ground floor level, displays artwork, sculpture, books, and other modems of art produced by local workers. Matthew's Opera House underwent an intensive renovation in 1997, where it was returned to its former glory. Spearfish Canyon
See the natural beauty of Spearfish while at Spearfish Canyon. Scientists hypothesize that the canyon was formed 30 to 60 billion years ago when water leaving the area eroded the mountainous terrain. Trees of many kinds blanket the canyon, many of them blooming year round. Another interesting aspect of the canyon is the rock makeup itself. Much of the canyon is striped with different colors of rock, in varying patterns. There are several places inside the canyon that people like to visit over and over. One of these places is the Bridal Veil Falls area. Different kinds of rock formations and types of rocks converge behind a small waterfall for an interesting sensory result. Aside from rock formations and plant growth, the wildlife in Spearfish Canyon is another big draw. At the canyon you could see whitetail and mule deer, and perhaps a mountain goat or two (which interestingly aren't indigenous to the Black Hills). Rarely visitors will catch a glimpse of the elusive bobcat that sometimes stalks the canyon. Eagle Aviation Air Tours
