Keystone
Keystone is one of the most visited cities in the United States for one main reason. This is the town closest to the site of Mount Rushmore, a National Memorial. What people may not be aware of are the myriad activities in town that have almost no relation to the famous mountain at all.

At this museum and art gallery you will be able to learn about this famous artist and see some of his most popular works. Here you can learn exactly what went in to building Mount Rushmore. Exhibits, like a full scale version of Lincoln's eye, bring to life exactly what a huge undertaking this project was. Big Thunder Gold Mine
See what mining was really like inside this authentic 1890's gold mine. Take a walk through the mine and learn about the lives of miners and the tasks that they took on looking for their fortune. You can also visit the mining museum and pan for your own gold. Take simple river gravel and use water to sift through the sludge and you may just find your own piece of gold.
