Deadwood

With all of the exciting activities in Deadwood, choosing which ones to experience on this family vacation could be a difficult task. Here are some of the most popular activities in town, some more suited for children while others will primarily interest adults.

Adams House and Museum
Adams Museum is the oldest history museum in the Black Hills and delivers a wealth of information about the area's past. The museum doesn't memorialize the Old West as a whole, it instead puts its focus on history and monumental events that happened in and around the Black Hills. At the museum you will be able to see Lakota artwork, Potato Creek Johnny's original gold nugget, and other artifacts from notable citizens. This museum is open year round and features changing exhibits.

Old Style Saloon No. 10
This working saloon is actual a living history museum as well. See the place where Wild Bill Hickok met his ultimate end all the while enjoying a sarsaparilla and fries. See artifacts that are over 100 years old and experience a real Western saloon. This working bar turns up the volume every evening with live music and the beverages that caused a lot of the craziness of the Old West. Take advantage of the hotel babysitting and spend a night away from the kids in this fun loving bar.

Gulches of Fun Amusement Park
Gulches of Fun Amusement Park is actually part of the Comfort Inn Deadwood, but it's activities aren't restricted to those staying in the hotel. Enjoy a day of mini golf, go cart, bumper boats, and much more. The largest arcade in the North Hills provides an exciting afternoon of gaming, outdoor excitement, and that deliciously non-nutritious amusement park cuisine.

Original Deadwood Tour
See the most exciting and historically significant places in Deadwood on this one hour tour. You will be taken by bus to areas that have made Deadwood the city that it is today. See the Chinese and Badlands sections of town all the while learning about General Custer, the Gold Rush, Potato Creek Johnny, and other. You will see the Mt. Moriah Cemetery, where citizens Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane are buried. Your tour ends at the top of Mt. Moriah where you can gaze down at Deadwood Gulch and see what settlers have viewed for well over 100 years.
